Searched for black owned businesses near my job last month, and found this place. First time visit today, for lunch. Got the Salisbury dinner with mac and yams. Came with rice and gravy, and cornbread. The ladies behind the counter were kind and courteous, clearly working hard. My order was ready in less than five minutes. The plate probably weighed a couple pounds. The Salisbury steak was THICCCC, very generous portion which I appreciated for the price. The gravy was perfectly thick and seasoned well. The cornbread is delicious. Small notes: the Salisbury steak was slightly dry, but well cooked, and the gravy compensated for the moisture and added some more flavor. The mac and cheese was lacking a bit of flavor, but just add a lil bit of that brown gravy to it and thank me later. Yams aren't something I usually order, so I don't want to offer an uninformed assessment. The consistency was nice, good chunks of yam vs a mash, and the flavor is sweet with a hint of cinnamon. I enjoyed them. Overall I really enjoyed this meal despite the food coma I am now in, and I will definitely be back again!

Man I wanted to like this food so much. The ladies were so friendly and helpful and the food was hot and made to order. The catfish was seasoned really well. The Mac and Cheese was not good at all. It had clumps of cheese with no flavor. The yams were hard and sugary but not good. The Boneless Breast sandwich and fries had no flavor. How do fries have no flavor? The strawberry and lemon cake was old and awful. I also had to try 5 times for the credit card machine to finally work. It kept failing until they rebooted it. All in all, I won’t be going back. One and done!!

I just moved to Norfolk and was out running some errands, saw a nice lil local spot and decided to give it a try. I ordered the turkey chops with rice, cabbage, and corn fritters. I swear, my plate weighed something like two pounds! Just look at it! The nice woman at the counter asked if I wanted my turkey smothered with onions and gravy; it definitely made it next level. The only gripe I have is that there was no dine-in area. Food like this deserves to be eaten at its freshest, and it was a solid 10/10. I will most definitely be returning, to try the rest of the menu!

D-to the E- to the L-I-C-I-O-U-S ! Fergie Style! Our food was goodt! We will definitely be ordering from Grannies again. 10/10!

The prices are reasonable and the staff were nice. Let’s get into the food… The whiting and shrimp were fried perfectly. Fried ribs were way too salty. The collards had a vinegar taste to them and a little tough. Mac and Cheese and yams were amazing. The cornbread reminded me of my mom’s ( very tasty)and the cake was good too. I noticed they also serve bbq turkey ribs, I was a little scared to try because I’ve never heard of bbq turkey ribs. Maybe next time I’ll try them.
